Cooked over
fire & frost.
A candlelit kitchen and cellar bar where Icelandic produce meets open flame — slow nights, deep flavour, nothing rushed.
Born of the long dark & the open flame
ELDR — old Norse for fire — began as a single hearth and a stubborn belief that Iceland’s short seasons deserve long, generous dinners.
We cook almost everything over wood and ember. What we serve is shaped by the boats at Reykjavik harbour, the farms of the south coast, and what we can forage, cure and ferment ourselves. Bread is baked in-house each morning; butter is cultured in our cellar.
The room is small and warm on purpose — low light, candle on every table, the bar open late for those who want one more glass of something natural.
An evening at ELDR
Kind words from the table
“The single best meal we had in Iceland. Every plate tasted of the place — smoke, sea, moss. We rebooked before we left.”
“Warm, unhurried and quietly brilliant. The lamb over birch is something I still think about months later.”
“The wine pairing alone is worth the trip. Natural, surprising, and the staff clearly love what they pour.”
